    • It was a great truck..... Wasn't in love though

My Fully Loaded Black Tacoma TRD Off Road Double Cab was a great, dependable truck. I have zero complaints on the look, the handling in the snow, the JBL sound system was awesome, it was comfortable in the front, but a little tight in the back. My biggest complaint about it over all is the V6 is very very underwhelming. The lack of power really kept me from keeping it because I loved the way it looked. It was the first year of the new design and I bought it brand new off the show room floor with all the bells and whistles. Tacoma's especially in CO, sell for a premium. I lost $8k in 4 years buying it brand new. I can't ask for anything else out of any vehicle when it comes to resale value and will continue to buy Toyota's for this very reason moving forward. I just couldn't stand how sluggish it was on the highway trying to get up to speed and forget about passing anybody without taxing the RPM's. It's a truck, I completely understand this but I may as well of been driving a 4 cylinder compact in comparison. Towing wasn't a problem, no real difference in performance, but I also never tried to tow a real heavy load with it. You buy this truck to Off-Road in the hills and to be honest, I was afraid too. I couldn't stand the thought of potentially damaging anything on the rocks in the Mountains so, I never really pushed its limits in that regard. What I did do, it handled with ease. Not sure I would buy another one, I think I would probably do a V8 Tundra next time.
    • Very Nice features, but poor performance

This is my 3rd Tacoma. I had an 01 access cab, an 06 TRD Sport 4x4, and now this 18 TRD Offroad. Of all the vehicles I've ever owned or driven, this is the worst performer when it comes to smoothness and confidence. This truck has a hesitation, miss, surge between 35 and 60 mph that has been looked at by 2 dealerships on 5 occasions. It has been diagnosed as acceptable behavior of this vehicle. It always keeps you a bit on edge wondering if it's going to get worse, or just eventually shut down. But so far, it hasn't done either. I would never ask someone to drive something with this kind of engine miss and tell them it's ok. For this reason, I would not recommend this vehicle until that issue is resolved. I test drove another 2018 TRD off road and it does the same thing.
    • My first truck

I needed something for the winter as I drive a Ford Mustang . I found out that the Tacoma’s have such high resale value that a lease would be beneficial to me . SR access cab in white with the SX package for under 200 a month with 4k down. Overall I am enjoying the truck . No powe seat in this model but their is a mod to fix the seat slope & height. The engine and transmission pairing is a bit underwhelming . Overall I find the interior refined and ergonomically correct. The new infotainment system is well-placed and easy to use . There are many fun mods to class up the interior and exterior . I like the 6 foot bed with the access cab . Overall I am pleased. It’s a fun truck to drive.
